Only recently translated into English, Mori's autobiography gives a vivid account of life in pre-war Japan, training to become pilot, flying in China, training for and carrying out the attack on Pearl Harbor, his role in the attacks on Wake, Midway and Guadalcanal, and more. A must read for students of the Pacific war.
interesting video, the added camera sound track is annoying, could do without that, your time would have been better spent adding some period music, that constant rattle you added was a waste of your time.
Knew a guy who was a crew chief on B-29s. He said they had to change the spark plugs after every mission – that's four engines with 21 cylinders and two plugs per cylinder – 42 plugs per engine – four engines = 168 spark plugs per aircraft. Just one of the maintenance requirements for just one aircraft. Think of hundreds on each mission, the sheer effort staggers me. Not counting what it took to design, build, test, perfect, supply all the people, parts, fuel, ordinance.
It pisses me off so much, that people watching men fight & die for real. But can only complain about about the camera reel sound. Just fuck off, if that's all you got out of this video.
Gotta admit, as an American, I greatly admire a Japanese pilot with 20 kills in an Oscar as you see at 0:05, with just two machine guns in the engine cowling they werenโt the hardest hitters and had to be precise with their shots.
