    Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
    Your big chance has come at last.
    Now you can go out and get those reds
    'Cause the only good commie is the one that's dead
    And you know that peace can only be won
    When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.

    The power of the media is just as important to the outcome of a war as the power of the military. The VC lost 40,000 troops during the Tet offensive yet they considered the operation to be a victory. In contrast, the US lost about 47,400 troops killed in combat action during the entire Vietnamese war and it is considered a loss.

    President Eisenhower said in 1954: I have never talked or corresponded with a person knowledgeable in Indochinese affairs who did not agree that had elections been held at the time of the fighting, possibly 80 per cent of the population would have voted for the communist Ho Chi Minh.                                                                                              Perhaps the only way the US could start the war was to create "The Republic of South Vietnam" with France, then when the French were whipped, to defend "South Vietnam" against "aggression". But Eisenhower's first act was to stop the Vietnamese from electing the most popular man in Vietnam.
