You never fuck with Warspite unless it's on her terms
Cape Matapan was the clear demonstration of the necessity of the carrier ships, and Italy didn't have. Actually the high commander said Italy is a "natural carrier in Mediterranian see" but facts demonstrated it wasn't so. Later they tried to modify a transatlantic in carrier but was too late.
One of the the first times air power had a direct impact on a fleet action at open sea. The rules of Naval war were evolving. Tiny little machines of wood and canvas were destroying mighty battleships.
Why were there no airstrikes or airdefense operations from the Axis in this battle? Considering Italy and North-Africa were so close and germany had quite a formidable airforce in this stage of the war..
This is the best visualization of a naval battle I have ever seen!
God damn it, british and MERICAN used cheat code named " rader " 🤣. Guys learn, in future, upgrade your ships before set sails for any war.
When you have the latest tech…. Radar
The 28th is my birthday (even if much, much later ) and it makes me very happy to have be born on the same date as a British victory
The scientific term is " Curb stomped "
Italy: we shall rule the Mediterranean!
Prince Phillip with a searchlight: are you sure about that?
Italy: cruiser Fiume
Britain: cruiser Flames
Short, superb video. I am watching this video at 5 am, Wed Dec 30.
Happy New Year and more success to Histograph. 👍
People forget the Regia Marina had brand new battleships equal to Bismark or Tirpitz.
They had brilliant torpedo bombers.
Italians shouldn't be at war! They should make pasta and pizza instead!
I can't imagine the horror of being on the losing end of a sea battle, especially in the engine rooms. The noise of gunfire from your own ship is something to experience, to be in an engineering space when shells or torpedos hit the ship would be total terror, of course it's no picnic on deck, either.
The last message of cruiser Fiume .
On 10 August 1952, 11 years after the battle, on a beach near Cagliari (Sardinia isle) crusted but well sealed bottle was found with wax which, inside, concealed, written on a piece of canvas torn from the cover of a machine gun, the following message:
"Regia Fiume Ship – Please gentlemen give my dear mother news while I die for the homeland. Sailor Chirico Francesco da Futani, via Eremiti 1, Salerno. Thank you gentlemen – Italy! "
After careful research, the name of the sailor was found among those of the missing of the cruiser Fiume, with which 813 Italian sailors of the crew found the death.
( sorry for my bad english )
“Europe’s soft underbelly”

I thought it was Nubian that sunk Pola
You should do one on the British navy attacking french warships that had fallen to the Germans after France was over run by Germany's Blitzkrieg
The best range is point blank spoke like a true Brit
Excellent narrative. Completely engrossing.
love to see the sinking of Prince of Wales and Repulse or HMS Glorious 😉
